1. In Impetus, select Pro Tools as your DAW and HUI as the protocol, then click Apply.
2. In Pro Tools, go to Setup › Peripherals, then click the MIDI Controllers tab.
3. In an available controller slot, set Type to HUI.
4. Set Receive From to From Impetus (Pro Tools - HUI) and Send To to To Impetus (Pro Tools - HUI), then click OK.

If your session contains MIDI tracks: go to Setup › MIDI › MIDI Input Devices and de-select your keyboard.

1. In Impetus, select Logic Pro as your DAW and Mackie Control as the protocol, then click Apply.
2. In Logic Pro, go to Logic Pro › Control Surfaces › Setup…
3. Click New › Install…, select Mackie Control from the list, click Add, then close the pop-up window.
4. Click the newly created Mackie Control icon, then set Output Port to To Impetus (Logic Pro - MC) and Input Port to From Impetus (Logic Pro - MC).

If your session contains MIDI tracks: go to Logic Pro › Settings › MIDI…, click the Inputs tab, and de-select your keyboard.

1. In Impetus, select Ableton Live as your DAW and Mackie Control as the protocol, then click Apply.
2. In Live, open the Settings panel and click the Link, Tempo and MIDI tab.
3. In the MIDI section, set the Control Surface to MackieControl.
4. Set Input to From Impetus (Ableton Live - MC) and Output to To Impetus (Ableton Live - MC), then set Takeover Mode to None.

One more step: in the Input Ports section, uncheck your MPE keyboard.

1. In Impetus, select Cubase/Nuendo as your DAW and Mackie Control as the protocol, then click Apply.
2. Navigate to Studio › Studio Setup…
3. Under Devices, click +Add Device and select Mackie Control from the list.
4. Set MIDI Input to From Impetus (Cubase/Nuendo - MC) and MIDI Output to To Impetus (Cubase/Nuendo - MC), then click Apply.
5. Still in Studio Setup, under MIDI Port Setup, uncheck "In 'All MIDI Inputs'" for these ports.
6. Click OK.

If your session contains MIDI tracks: also uncheck "In 'All MIDI Inputs'" for your keyboard, or set each MIDI track's input to 'Not Connected'.

MC or HUI: Cubase and Nuendo work with both — try each to see which works best for you, and set the matching protocol in Impetus first.

1. In Impetus, select REAPER as your DAW and Mackie Control as the protocol, then click Apply.
2. Open REAPER Preferences (Settings), scroll to Control/OSC/web, and click Add.
3. Set the Control surface mode to Mackie Control Universal.
4. Set MIDI Input to From Impetus (Reaper - MC) and MIDI Output to To Impetus (Reaper - MC), then click OK.

If your session contains MIDI tracks: in REAPER Preferences, select MIDI Inputs and disable your MPE keyboard from the list.

REAPER also supports HUI, but we recommend Mackie Control — HUI has proven less reliable in our testing.

1. In Impetus, select DaVinci Resolve as your DAW and HUI as the protocol, then click Apply.
2. In DaVinci Resolve, open Preferences and select Control Panels.
3. Check "Use MIDI Audio Console" and set the MIDI Protocol to HUI.
4. Set MIDI Input to From Impetus (DaVinci Resolve - HUI) and MIDI Output to To Impetus (DaVinci Resolve - HUI), then click Save.
5. Restart DaVinci Resolve for the connection to take effect.

Fairlight only: Impetus connects to Resolve's Fairlight page — faders and MIDI controls won't work on the Edit, Cut, Color, Fusion, or Deliver pages, though keyboard shortcuts work throughout.

MC or HUI: Resolve supports both — try each to see which works best for you, and set the matching protocol in Impetus first.

Impetus also works with Studio One, Bitwig Studio, Digital Performer, FL Studio, and any other DAW or video editor that supports the HUI or Mackie Control (MC) protocol. The setup process is similar in all of them. Refer to your DAW's documentation for accurate instructions, but it generally will look something like this:

1. In Impetus, select your DAW from the list — or, if it isn't listed, choose "Other" — and choose HUI or MC as the protocol (refer to your DAW's documentation), then click Apply.
2. In your DAW's preferences, find its control surface settings — usually called Control Surfaces, Remote Devices, External Devices, or Peripherals.
3. Add a new HUI or Mackie Control device.
4. Set its MIDI input and output to the matching Impetus ports shown in the app (for example, From Impetus (Your DAW - HUI) and To Impetus (Your DAW - HUI)).
5. If your session contains MIDI tracks, exclude your MPE keyboard from the DAW's MIDI input list so it doesn't also trigger notes.
