Privacy Policy

The short version

Impetus is a desktop app that runs on your Mac. It doesn't include analytics or telemetry. The only data it sends anywhere is what's needed to activate and validate your license. Purchases are handled by Freemius, our merchant of record, so we never see your payment details. We don't sell data to anyone.

Information we collect

When you visit our website

Our website (impetus.software) is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard technical data (such as IP addresses) to serve and secure the site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless analytics service that collects aggregate page-view data without tracking individual visitors. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party marketing cookies.

When you buy Impetus or start a trial

Checkout, payment, and licensing are handled by Freemius, Inc., our merchant of record. Freemius collects the information needed to process your order (such as your name, email address, payment details, and billing country for tax purposes). We receive your name, email address, and license details from Freemius so we can provide support and manage your license — we never receive or store your payment card information. Freemius's handling of your data is described in their privacy policy.

When you use the app

The Impetus app stores your settings, presets, and license state locally on your Mac. The app communicates over the internet only for license activation and periodic license validation, sending a randomly generated installation identifier and your license key to Freemius. The app contains no analytics, telemetry, usage tracking, or crash reporting.

When you contact support

If you reach out through our contact form, we receive your email address and the contents of your message (processed via our form provider, Web3Forms, and our email provider, Zoho). We use this only to respond to you.

What we don't do

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not profile you or track you across other websites or apps.

Data retention and your rights

We keep customer records (name, email, license details) for as long as needed to provide support, honor your license, and meet legal obligations. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by reaching out through our contact form. Note that some data is held by Freemius as merchant of record; we will assist you in directing requests to them where applicable, and deletion requests cannot override records we or Freemius are legally required to retain.

Children

Impetus is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version at this address.
